Education in Door Security Solutions

The ASSA ABLOY Academy offers a variety of courses designed to educate on the many door opening solutions available today. Course content spans multiple topics, including hands-on installation, overview of various technologies, product brands, and building codes and requirements. ASSA ABLOY Academy has also compiled suggested learning paths, targeted to job function, to ensure you and your employees get the most out of the available programs.

ASSA ABLOY Academy strives to make access to training easy, through all of these options:

  • Online, self-guided modules
  • Virtual, instructor-led courses offered live or as a recording accessible online
  • Instructor-led at one of six ASSA ABLOY Training Centers
  • Instructor-led at your facility
  • Mobile Training vehicle

Training Centers

ASSA ABLOY Academy has seven major training centers in the United States and Canada – each equipped with full-size door labs for hands-on training in a real environment.

Mobile Training

The Mobile Installation Training (MIT) Showroom offers hands-on introductory door and hardware classes. To book the MIT at your location, contact your local Door Security Solutions representative or email Carrie Smith at

Continuing Education Units

In addition to the ASSA ABLOY Credit Hours issued for any completed instructor led training and online training courses, ASSA ABLOY has also partnered with the following industry associations to provide Continuing Education Units (CEUs) required for state licensing and other purposes.

Students completing any ASSA ABLOY Academy training module can apply those training hours to satisfy DHI's Continuing Education Point (CEP) requirements.

Students completing any ASSA ABLOY Academy training module can apply those training hours toward ALOA AUE credits, used to maintain certification credentials.

Intertek Qualified Personnel – Hardware Installer Program

The ASSA ABLOY Preferred Installer Program includes third-party certification by Intertek. Rigorous, hands-on training qualifies technicians to field prep Warnock Hersey labeled fire doors for the installation of specific ASSA ABLOY integrated locks and accessories while retaining the door's fire resistance rating and compliance with NFPA 80. In addition, Intertek Qualified Personnel may apply supplemental serialized labels to doors they've prepped and after ASSA ABLOY hardware has been installed. This signifies to Authorities Having Jurisdiction and Fire Door Inspectors that the installation was completed in accordance with NFPA guidelines.

Career Path Management

Whether your employees need training on doors, frames, hardware, electronics or the basics, you can assign specific online courses based on employee needs and review their progress – all through ASSA ABLOY Academy.
