All ASSA ABLOY Academy courses are free-of-charge.  Go through them at your own pace and receive a certification of completion at the end of each course. AIA CE courses are delivered at your convenience by an ASSA ABLOY Architectural Representative.

AIA AD500 Understanding Accessible Doors and Hardware

This 30 minute course is intended to familiarize you with the requirements for accessible doors and hardware as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). All references are pulled from the standard for accessible and usable buildings and facilities ANSI A117.1 2009 edition.

AIA AD501 Understanding Basic Fire Door Hardware Codes

This 45 minute course is intended to familiarize yourself with the purpose of codes and standards as they pertain to selecting the appropriate fire rated doors, frames and hardware components for your projects. It will cover basic requirements found in The Standard for Fire Doors and Other Opening Protectives NFPA 80 and as referenced by the International Building Code IBC and The Life Safety Code NFPA 101.

AIA AD502 Understanding Basic Egress Hardware

This 30 minute course is intended to familiarize you with the definition of means of egress. It covers basic occupancy types and how they differ from one another and what happens when you have more than one occupancy type in a building. This course teaches you the code compliant mechanical hardware requirements based on the occupancy types. All references are pulled from the International Building Code IBC 2015.

AIA AD503 Understanding Access Controlled Egress Codes

This 25 minute course is intended to familiarize you with the requirements for Access Controlled Egress as a special locking arrangement in the International Building Code IBC as well as in the Life Safety Code NFPA 101. It is highly recommended that you first take and pass the two ASSA ABLOY Academy online courses Understanding Basic Egress Hardware and Calculating Occupant Loads and Egress Width.

AIA AD504 Calculating Occupant Load and Egress Width

This 45 minute course is intended to familiarize you with the how to use the egress calculator for the purpose of determining the occupancy use and type of a building, structure or portion thereof; calculating the occupancy load for a room or space, for each occupancy type, based on the formulas and tables in IBC201; calculating the minimum clear opening width of doors from a room or space; determining the swing direction of doors from a room or space and determining the minimum number of exits and exit access doors from a room or space.

AIA AD505 Understanding Controlled Egress

This 25 minute course is intended to familiarize you with the requirements for Controlled Egress as a special locking arrangement in the International Building Code IBC as well as in the Life Safety Code NFPA 101.
